The Product
Pick My Food is a website that helps users find healthy restaurants, menus and grocery items that fit their health preferences and needs.
The Problem
-
Many users feel limited in eating out because most restaurants don’t offer nutrition facts on their menus.
-
Most websites don't have options for healthy restaurants, recipes and ingredients.
The Goal

Create a website that gives users the freedom to eat out at any restaurant with a complete list of healthy options to fit their nutrition needs in addition to healthy recipes and ingredients to cook at home.
I did an audit on multiple competitors to better understand the market and see where there were shortcomings and holes that could be fixed for optimal user experiences.

User Research
I held in person interviews with a wide range of demographics in order to better understand the needs, desires and frustrations of our audience. The takeaway from these interviews was that customers want more options and customization.
The user group reinforced our concerns that the app does not provide enough customization to fit users preferences and needs.
Pain Points
Filters
Healthy eating is a personal journey with many variations. There needs to be an exhaustive list of options for users to filter what they are looking for.
Graphics
Health websites are often lacking in graphics that make nutrition information obvious or easy to find.
Social Features
Users want to share recipes they've made but the website doesn't provide an option for uploading personal recipes or photos.

4. Usability Study Results
I conducted two unmoderated user study where users were given a list of tasks to navigate the website. Users were encouraged to complete the tasks to the best of their ability and make comments about the process.
Round 1 Findings
The nutrition information was hard to find on some of the recipes
There wasn't a way to comment on or share a recipe or restaurant
Finding saved recipes was confusing
Round 2 Findings
Users want an option to upload their own recipes
There should be more of a social aspect to the website
Users want suggestions based on recent searches
